La Castellana holds more single-family houses than anywhere else in the comuna, many of them behind garden walls on streets that carry almost no through traffic. Some have been converted into small buildings of three or four units.
This is where buyers land when they want a house rather than an apartment, or a ground floor with a patio for a dog. It is also where the largest lots are, which makes it the part of Laureles most exposed to redevelopment pressure over the next decade.
